
I wonder who was the first person who decided collect devil souvenir?
In Lithuania Kaunas there is a devil’s museum, it’s a personal collection of A. Zmuidzinavicius; little statues, masks and souvenirs depicting ‘devil’ nature spirit.
So, who is that creature ‘devil’?
In Lithuanian culture the devil was something like nature spirit. Only church decided that nature spirits were bad. Nature in general was bad according to church.
Nature spirits are not good or bad although they could be mischievous.
In mythology nature spirits can help people although sometimes they may play games with people.
Most Humans think they are the only intelligent creatures on this planet. That’s an illusion. Humans are so unaware how many creatures influence their life.
The ‘devils’ could take many forms, some are shapeshifters. In old days humans would make deals with nature spirits and they had to pay something for the favour. Most of the time humans try not to pay and then the problems would start ‘devils’ start being mischievous and reckless. They would destroy human property and play pranks. Entities might act reckless because they don’t like humans, or human didn’t pay for the favour, sometimes Entities could be malevolent.
Devils museum has statues and souvenirs of different kinds of beings although they all called ‘devil’.
Lithuanian pagan character velnias the devil is a trickster. In mythology velnias play tricks and pranks on people who are greedy, abusive don’t like nature. Velnias is very earthy god, being he is not of the sky he is of the earth.
It’s definitely worth visiting devils museum in Kaunas if you are interested in paganism and supernatural. The art work depicts nature spirits quite accurate.
