Meditation

Meditate

When you meditate you are fully awake, alert and aware. Aim of meditation is to still your mind and stop thought.Meditation is the art of letting go. Meditation teaches you to be detached. First step when you start to meditate, you are learning to focus and concentrate. Second step you are learning to control your thoughts. The very last stage is stopping thoughts. It takes quite a few years of practice to learn to stop your thoughts.

Don’t be discouraged when you start meditating and you have a lot of thoughts. Think of meditation as mind training. It is the same as training physical body, you are not going to run a marathon the same day you start jogging. It takes time, practice and dedication.

Meditation is learning to get to know yourself. Remembering who you are.

‘Know thyself’ Socrates

‘If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.’ Sun Tzu

‘Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.’ Tao Te Ching

‘Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.’ Lao Tzu
